The WiFi settings on your Chromebook are handed down to the Chromebook from the cloud; most of the time, you won't have any connection issues.
Fortunately, if you are experiencing connections problems on your Chromebook, there are a few things you can try:
1) Verify that the device is on the wireless network by checking its connection information in the settings menu of the Chromebook. The Chromebook should be connected to the ECPS-WLAN network while it is on campus.
2) If you are having problems with your device and wifi off campus, make sure you check to see that the device is on the network that you are using (check this by checking its connection information in the settings menu of the Chromebook).
3) If you are off-campus and you are on a wifi network, but you can't navigate anywhere in your browser, try these steps:
A) Sign out of the Chromebook.
B) Log on to the wifi network that you want.
C) Sign back in to the Chromebook.
4) The first thing that a Chromebook will do off campus when you sign in to it is communicate with some of Eau Claire's filtering systems. If this communication fails (because you haven't put the device on wifi BEFORE signing in to it), then your Chromebook will not function properly.
5) Chromebooks are not meant to be on the guest wifi network on campus. They will not function properly and you will have problems with accessing materials if you are on the guest wifi. Keep your Chromebook on the ECPS-WLAN network while you are on campus.
