It is often the case that staff members will run into problems with volume and audio in their classrooms. With the classroom A/V systems that are in place, here are a few steps to try before creating a help desk ticket:
1) Check all of the plugs that are associated with your classroom A/V system. Is the audio plug plugged in at the source (the computer)? Is the same audio cable plugged in at the input panel for the classroom A/V system? Sometimes, fixing problems can be as simple as checking plugs.
2) If you have volume, but it's low, it's important to check to make sure that every source in the chain of connectivity has its volume set to a mid-range setting. For example, if you are playing a YouTube video, the video's volume should be mid-range, the computer's volume should be mid-range, and the projector's volume should be mid-range. Then, choose one of these volume settings to tweak to make changes.
3) If you are on a dock for a laptop, sometimes undocking and redocking the computer will solve 'no volume' issues.
4) If there is any source in the chain of connectivity that is muted, this obviously creates 'no volume' issues. Check to make sure that you haven't accidentally set any source to mute.
5) In the classrooms in the district, the A/V systems are set to lower volume automatically when input is sensed on a classroom microphone. If you are having low volume issues, check to make sure that any lanyard-style microphones in the room are turned off.
If going through these steps doesn't help you with your issue, feel free to create a help desk ticket for the IT Department.
